New Zealand Flax (Near Prospect High School)
I’m sharing a few Bare root cuttings. New Zealand Flax (Phormium tenax) is an evergreen perennial plant native to New Zealand is a large ornamental evergreen plant. The plant grows as a clump of long, strap-like leaves, up to 7 feet long, from which arises a much taller flowering shoot, with dramatic yellow or red flowers. NOTE: This plant needs a large space. My 35 year old mature plant is about 7’X7’! It likes full or partial sun and soil with good drainage. Drought resistant once established.

These beautiful flowering plants are actually corms. The plant is hardy, preferring a sunny location with well-draining soil. I must emphasize that this will spread if not planted in pots and in the ground can become invasive if not managed. I planted mine in the ground along a fence over 20 years ago and my dozen or so corms now number in the hundreds. Here’s a link to more info on growing crocosmia:

Radio flyer tricycle. It has been sitting in my parking spot for several months unused, but the spot is covered so it’s protected from the elements. If you are brave enough to wipe some cobwebs off and give the sunshade a quick rinse, this is in great shape.
