Swarms of honey bees (Horsham)
Honey Bee Swarm season is here so I am reaching out to anyone who sees a large ball of bees in their garden or when out and about. At this time of year honey bee colonies will swarm. The present queen creates a new queen and then leaves the nest with around half of the bees to find a new nest site. The new queen remains with the old nest and what is left of the honey bee colony. These swarms are totally natural and normal but can be quite large and intimidating. They are not normally aggressive and just resting while they find a new home, but best to give them some space so don't get too close. If you have a swarm that you don't want then let me know as I would like them to fill my empty bee hives.

Lots of young leaves (fennel fronds) at the moment if anyone enjoys fennel and aniseed flavours (I don’t unfortunately) I just love the flowers and growing edible plants. If anyone would potentially like a herb fennel plant let me know. Beware though - they can spread around the garden over time from the vast seeds produced by the plant!
