Offcut of leather or old belt (Chorley PR6)

Hi. Bit of a strange request. I am trying to make a leather strope (a bit like a barber would use) to sharpen some carving / whittling knives. Any old offcuts of leather or an old leather belt / bag etc would work. The thicker the leather the better. Ideally pieces 10 inches or more in length and 1.5 inches or wider would work. I would glue it to a bit of plywood to strope knives until sharp enough to carve wood (new hobby). Thank you. Shaun
