Kirtland Elementary Holiday Fair
Hello NEIGHBORS!!! Happy Every wonderful Day to you all!
Last year around this same time, I requested items from you all for the Holiday Fair at our school, Kirtland Elementary. So many of you were generous and joyful in your giving to this program. Its a store of sorts...where the kids earn "bucks" for gifts that they choose for family and friends. The earning is minimal up to $25!!! Some of these kids put out all stops to be sure to behave in class, turn in homework, be kind to a friend (manners and compassion) beyond the norm! Its quite fun to watch the littles with their $5 come in and choose gifts for 10 people! Its because of your generous spirit, that the 125 kids at school can suprise their own family, having EARNED the 'money' to purchase gifts! SO how do you fit in? Think of the things that made you happy as a child to give and recieve. Most of us can give a wee bit of something that we have in our homes (unused candle, new socks that you never liked anyway, simple jewelry that you will never wear, a scarf (those were big hits last year)...tools for dads, and funny shirts. Items for all ages of kids. Our students are 5-12, so the needs vary within a family. THEY are NOT allowed to purchase for themselves :) Then, we have volunteers who help wrap the gifts with the kids, who then bring them home the last day of school (12.21 this year) to put under a tree or wherever they celebrate the giving. Last year, it took me over a week to collect all the amazing items-clothes, jewelry, toys, books, hygiene items, cooking accessories, BEAT head phones!!! Your white elephant gifts can be regifted! Don't stop your charity to help clearing out your give away pile before the new year! Your kindness and generosity will make memories for other familys. Be sure to contact me here, ask for my number so we can text, or call for pickups. Usually whatever works for you will work for me...! Happy Christmas, Hannukah! And all good news to you! Thank you again! Amy Harris
