NO MATTRESS.
The base is very sturdy, but there are some tea/coffee stains - an upholstery shampoo and vacuum should remove them.
The base has its blue safety label, but I have reupholstered the headboard so cannot certify it fireproof. The headboard is in a good clean condition - cream shadow stripe. The drawers are very sturdy.
