Very large kit bag! (Southport PR9)

I have no idea what this item was originally used for! It is thick canvas and shaped like a kit bag. It is cylindrical but measured flat it is approximately 30 cms wide and 35 cms long. It has eyelet holes around the top but no string for it. Is it any use to anyone - maybe for storage????
