Bass guitar for teenager (Liverpool L19)

Hi all, does anyone have a bass guitar they dont use?.. its for a friend's 12 yr old son who wants to start a band with his friends in school. Doesn't need to be anything flashy, just something he can learn to play on. Thanks freeglers.
