This seat bolts onto the seat tube and sits above the back wheel. We used it regularly from when my boy was 2 years old (he’s now nearly 5 and we’re using a trailer instead) and it’s got plenty of life left in it.
See the photo for the small bit I sawed out of the plastic cover to fit it onto my bike (as the brake/gear cables were a little in the way).
