Nintendo Wii & balance board (Cogges OX28)

I have a Nintendo Wii + balance board that I was given a while ago. I've never been able to get it to work and I've never used them before so don't really know where to start in trying to fix it. Free to anyone that can fix it or use it for spares / repairs.
