We are renovating our kitchen and have reluctantly removed the beautiful handmade and hand-painted Mexican Talavera tiles on our backsplashes. In total we removed about 22 square feet of tile in several large-ish chunks, still adhered to their drywall backing. Most should be salvageable by soaking each chunk in water and then separating the tiles along their grout lines with a tile saw.
