Dressmaking items (BS15)

I am learning dressmaking and just bought myself a sewing machine, so I could really do with some fabric to either test out my machines different stitches or fabric to use with patterns to practice making items and/or clothes. Or if you have any ‘how-to’ manuals or books on dressmaking that would also be very helpful. Anything you have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
