The Lutterloh System – The Do It Yourself Pattern Cutting Method
The Lutterloh System, also known as The Golden Rule, is a pattern drafting method developed in Germany in the 1930s. It allows home sewists to create custom-fitted garment patterns using a proportional scaling technique based on bust and hip measurements.
How It Works:
The system includes miniature pattern templates and a special tape measure.
By using your own measurements (mainly bust and hip), you scale up the mini pattern to your size.
You draft the full-size pattern onto paper, ready for fabric cutting.
It’s suitable for all genders and ages, with patterns for tops, skirts, trousers, coats, and more.
