White, with two threaded caps on the lid. Lid is molded to the barrel. We got this at a sale at DVC Horticulture during the drought a few years back. It can be set up with a valve at the bottom by drilling a correct diameter hole and installing a valve (not included, and we never got around to drilling the hole). If you place the barrel on a stand, gravity dispense the water. We set it next to a downspout and filled it with rain water, and pumped the water out.
There is some algae residue in the barrel (minor).
