This is a bit urgent. I have a limited window to apply to a basement rental property that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. The ONLY drawback is that the HVAC/furnace unit (not sure about the proper terms) is in the basement and it is LOUD. The noise would compete with conversations, music, television, and sleep.

I would like to take some soundproofing foam or panels into the furnace closet to see if it dampers the sound at all. If it seems hopeful, I would like to suggest those to the landlord or even buy them myself because Iit would be worth the investment.
