Cardboard or old carpet (Southey S5)

Hello, I am trying to do some garden maintenance (wish me luck lol) and because I have a hedge on all sides I’ve realised I need to have pots that I can move instead of planting. I need to kill the weeds and have been told that cardboard or old carpet work really well. Open to suggestions too. If you can help, please drop me a message, thanks
