Garden watering system (New Malden KT3)

I have recently removed this watering system from my garden, which was left by the previous owner. Approx 10m hose and the device itself. It was working when I brought it in last winter. I can't undo the screw on section to connect to the tap
but maybe someone else can get it to work.
