Logitech speakers (Shipley, BD18)

Can anybody make use of a pair of Logitech speakers, size 4 inch wide x 8 inch high, these have been used with our pc, for some reason , since I removed them from the pc only one now works, I have tried them with our tablet and they sound good but I can only get sound from the one without the control buttons. I believe the plug is a fairly standard 3.5mm Jack plug that fits most tablets etc.
