Electric fireplace - faulty wire (Erdington, B23)

This has worked fine until recently but I got it out to give away and my house rabbit put his teeth to the wire quicker than I could look. 😞
So as in picture wire is faulty, but if there is a skilled electrician amongst you - at own risk and please use a lot of caution - it might still be worth it.
