Baby gate, works but with fault (Welling DA16)

Someone gave me this and said it fixes closed at the bottom so is usable, but the top bit is broken.
I didn’t use it myself to know exactly how well it functions- for safety, it might be better used for pets or if for a baby, then as a room division rather than on stairs.
Free for collection to anyone who wants.
