Bird feeder (Wells, BA5)

This feeder cost a fortune (£35) and I bought it to protect my little birds food from the starlings (they have their own feeder !). It did do what I needed to but I did not get on well with it, the bottom plate seems to come loose even after tightening and the top hanger isn't big enough for me because I have to hang it high in the tree to protect from the local cats. It has dropped to the floor a couple of times and I am not sure why because the lid was screwed tight. I was going to recycle it at the tip but thought there might be someone out there who could fix the issues and make it work.
