Pedometer for repair (Wimborne Town centre, BH21)

I bought this for a friend's present, but when I unscrewed the back to see how the battery would be replaced (when needed) a tiny piece of metal about as thick as a hair fell off and I can't see how to get it back on. All the parts are there if anyone wants to mend it.
