Panasonic Video recorder/player (Fratton PO1)

FOR SPARES/REPAIR ONLY.
Panasonic NV-HS1000BYP. This 'almost works but when the tape head engages the tape, it retreats back to its station. I don't have any understanding of these things so it could be a small fix or possibly a fatal fault but I thought it may be an interesting project for somebody. I can't find where I have put the power cable but it can't be far away, (I had it just before Christmas) if you need it.
