Electric Kettle (Civic Hospital)

Slightly defective (see below) Russel-Hobbs electric kettle to give away. Auto shut-off, lighted button, 1.7 litre capacity. Works very well. The kettle part lifts off the powered base so you need not worry about the power cord when pouring the hot water.

The Kettle part sits on the base and when the button on the kettle is pressed, the base supplies power to the kettle to boil the water. The kettle may be freely rotated on the base. The defect is that for one 30 degree portion of the 360 degree rotation, the base makes intermittent contact with the kettle and the water does not heat up quickly. When the kettle is rotated out of this band, the kettle works fine. We have been using this for well over a year with the defect by just being careful to avoid the defective area. This is likely something that a squirt of contact cleaner or a little emery cloth on the contacts on the UNPLUGGED base and kettle will resolve.
