Printer needs attention (Leckhampton GL53)

Canon Pixma MP499, print/copy/scan. This has been working perfectly but now says 'ink absorber full'.I know on some models you can remove the absorber and wash it out but can't find how to access it on this model. So, if you think you can fix it, or just want it as a scanner, collection from Leckhampton.
