This is an ashiko hand drum from West Cliff Percussion in Santa Cruz. It's taller and narrower than a djembe, and has an extremely resonant and clear tone. Extremely versatile, great for both studio recording and the occasional drum circle in the park (I've done both). The head is the original goatskin and in fantastic shape with a deep bass note in the center and a clear bell-like tone at the edge.
