Woodwork project/firewood? (Altrincham 2DP)

I painstakingly removed the needles from my Christmas tree thinking I could sand it and make a curtain rail and other things out of the wood. I did not get round to it. And I have a second one with needles still on. Is this of use to anyone more carpenter like than me? Or for firewood? Trying to reduce waste! I have other things to put on as likely moving house soon too. Feel free to enquire
