Antique Commode/Washstand (19th C.) (Belmont, MA)

We are downsizing and looking to save this beautiful, genuinely old piece of history from the dumpster. This is a robust, early-to-mid 19th-century mahogany washstand or commode—not a reproduction.
Why it’s special:
• True Age: Check out the hand-cut dovetail drawer joints and the original plank backing (see photos)—this is pre-Civil War craft.
• Character: Features traditional fluted stiles and an ornate "Empire" scalloped backsplash.
• Restoration Potential: The structure is sturdy and the brass pulls are lovely. It does show minor vintage wear and some separation on the leg, making it the perfect project for a refinisher or an antique lover.
The drawers are solid and the piece is still very functional.
