I got this email from a friend and suddenly thought someone in this group might be able to help:
"I am a Refuge Worker supporting individuals who have fled domestic abuse.
I am currently working with a client from India who has recently sought refuge in the UK. She has extensive experience in tailoring and dressmaking, and accessing a sewing machine would make a significant positive impact on her wellbeing, independence, and ability to create and repair clothing affordably.
She is currently on Universal Credit and is struggling financially, so purchasing one herself is not possible.
Would you be able to donate a sewing machine?
Any assistance you can provide — including advice on waiting lists, referral processes, or upcoming donation opportunities — would be greatly appreciated."
If anyone has a sewing machine they are no longer using, I'd be happy to get it to this person.
