I have a pile of comfrey roots with leaves and in many cases flowers on them, dug up on Friday. This plant grows on my allotment and I did not plant it, but I believe it is a dwarf variety. It grows knee high and has spread only about 1.5 m in seven years with no attempt to contain it. If you'd like to try growing a plant from the roots or even just harvest the leaves, you are welcome to collect from B29 7. The roots are outside and can be collected at your convenience.
I recommend planting it away from anywhere you want to grow alliums, as mine don't do well in the ground neighboring the comfrey. Also suggest planting somewhere contained so it doesn't spread too much, and deadheading the flowers as I don't think it's a sterile variety
