Mountain bike. It is solid, but not in great cosmetic condition.
The seat is seized in position, so it can only really be ridden standing up unless you can unseize it somehow. The seat will give before the post if you just pull it so it might need a method more creative than that.
From what I remember, only the rear brake works and very poorly. The front needs to be adjusted in some way for the pads to actually hit the rims I think. I rode it a couple of times and managed to get the gears adjusted close to but not quite perfect from what I remember. It gets all of them and the chain doesn't come off, anyway.
3 front gears, 5 rear. I picked it up originally for a relative who I thought might want it, but then they didn't. While it's fun to have another bike around to mess around with, really it isn't needed and is just sitting around rotting basically, which is why I'm getting rid of it.
