iPad model 1? (Morden SM4)

This was given to me a few years ago and I never managed to get Safari working consistently. It would at random lengths of time close down, so I just used it as a device to load movies onto for when travelling. I’ve tried to do a factory reset but now it says the pad cannot be activated. Maybe connecting to iTunes will sort it or some other way. I have now bought a newer model so someone can get it working or just use as I did.
