GE Microwave Door latch issue (Mendon)

I bought this microwave a year and a half ago, so it’s outside of the one-year warranty. The door latch release isn’t working. I was reheating a cup of coffee before that, there’s a cup of coffee still inside. It’s been in there about two weeks. when I went to move the microwave, the coffee spilled. I have no idea if the spilled liquid damaged anything or not. Some did come out of back vent. It does power on when I plug it in. It was a nice microwave and has an air fryer feature. The door latch can be fixed. I don’t know if there’s liquid damage or not.
