Pickup truck canopy.
Taken from a 2018 Ford Ranger Single Cab.
Needs a little fettling. However, if you just want to use it for security and it doesn't have to be 100% water-tight then it's fine as it is.
It has;
- Side and rear doors.
- Internal and external LED lights.
- High level brake light.
See attached pictures.
The lights are brighter than they seem in the pics cos the pics were taken during the day.
Wiring information can be supplied.
The stuff that needs attention;
- One of the side doors has rusted through on the bottom. It still works but a little rust treatment and filler wouldn't go amiss. See pic.
- Same door had one of its two locking lugs cut off when the internal mechanism stopped releasing the catch on that side.
Again, it works fine with one lug but the issue is understood and to repair it just requires the activating rod to be put back into the clamping mech and the grub screw tightenend down. I think I have the lug somewhere on my workbench so if I can find it I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to weld some threaded piece onto the lug and put it back in place.
- There are two points in the panels where it has rusted through. In one corner which is not structural and so can be filled. And in one corner of the back door hole which may need a bit of steel.
- I have all 4 clamps for holding the canopy onto the truck bed but two are quite rusted. I reckon they will still work but a bit of rust treatment and the threads oiling/easing would be good.
- It needs a bit of sealing in various spots as it has a few leaks.
- The wiring looks messy compared to the pics cos I snipped the cable ties so that I could look at and trace the wiring. That only requires fitting cable ties.
I've had to disassemble it a little in order to get it off my truck. See pics.
- The 3 doors have been removed. They bolt at the top with nuts and bolts. They each will need four wires rejoining.
- The main support bars have been removed. These bolt to the truck bed and the canopy and all the fittings are still in place on the canopy.
Some of the original nuts/bolts/screws will come with it but some of them were rusted to the point of being unusable so will need replacing.
In this state it's a two man lift (with a bit of grunt) and I can supply one man, me.
