Unlocked smartphone (Glendale)

I am looking for a functional, used, UNLOCKED smartphone (compatible with T-Mobile or AT&T network/SIM cards) to use as a medical lifeline.

Cosmetic condition/scratches do not matter at all, as long as the phone turns on and can make calls.
