Works just fine, but no longer gets updates from Apple, and is only good with what it's got on it (iPadOS 16). Comes with a protective shell and a carrying bag.
The Google overview is:
The Apple iPad 5th generation (released in 2017) is an affordable, entry-level tablet. Powered by the A9 chip and a 9.7-inch Retina display, it remains a capable device for light tasks like web browsing, reading, streaming videos, and video calls. It does not receive major iPadOS updates and is not compatible with the Apple Pencil (1st or 2nd gen) or Apple's Smart Keyboards
