Extendable metal stepladder. I think it's aluminium because it's quite light.
When it's not in use (as in the picture) it's about 6' 2" long. When it's fully extended you can probably reach the upstairs windows of a house.
It's been outside for a couple of years and the bolts have got rusty (see picture). I'm happy for potential takers to come and test it out before deciding whether or not to take it away.
