Reading, writing, self (Glebe near Dow's Lake)

Five free books that could help a writer or other creative person. Take one or all.

1. "Style" FL Lucas. F. L. Lucas's Style (1955) is a book about the writing and appreciation of good prose, expanded for the general reader from lectures given to English literature students at Cambridge University. Rather rough condition, the spine is missing a piece, but it's still readable.

 2. How to live, the life of Montaigne by Sarah Bakewell. It is about the life of the 16th-century French nobleman, wine grower, philosopher, and essayist Michel Eyquem de Montaigne. In it, Bakewell "roughly maps out Montaigne's life against the questions he raises along the way," drawing the answers to these questions from his Essays. I recommend you get the Essays as well, to go with this book.

3. The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, helps creatives recover from stress and other barriers to creativity.

4. The Lifetime reading plan, a book about classical books and literature you may want to read in the future.

5. Solving the Procrastination puzzle, about avoidance of difficult tasks such as your creative projects.
