Mitre compound saw (Norton Lees S8)

Champion mitre saw. It does work but for some reason the saw doesn't open. I've tried pulling the locking pin out but doesn't seem to do anything. I'm sure someone handy will find this an easy fix and have a decent saw on their hands. Very portable and used to cut well.
