Takes AAA batteries, I tested they work but they need new batteries. Please note these are older models prob 5+ years, but this brand is good quality and I think they can still be used for a while.

please test them against cuffs at your doc office, the at home ones are more picky about body and arm positions etc to give accurate readings.
