Sony AV receiver STR DB780 faulty (Malin Bridge S6)

It arrived in bad shape from eBay, seller has not packed it well and Royal Mail's finest finished off the job! I got working for half an hour fine and then no sound coming out it. A project for someone with electronics knowledge perhaps? Well built and heavy but not well built to withstand modern courier service obviously.
