The photo of the top exaggerates the markings on the top but it would benefit enormously from renovation. I would personally recommend a light rub with fine wire wool followed by two coats of cloth applied teak oil (with a very light rub between coats) and then a good real beeswax polish rather than attacking it with a sander and varnish.
