Ceramic to up cycle (Killamarsh S21)

Given by a neighbour to give away. Cups, plates and dishes have scratches on them from being used in her dishwasher.
Can anyone use them for standing plants in, birdbaths or break up to put in bottom of garden planters for drainage.?
