laptop or smart phone (Hayfork, California)

I am in need of either a laptop (newer than my 10 year old chromebook) and/or a smartphone that is wifi usable & can be used for college. I am returning to college to finish my BA of Science degree, I was diagnosed with cancer & was made to quit 15 years ago. I have beat cancer 2x & I have no employment.
