Antique Open Easy Chair – a period uphol (South Kensington SW7)

Victorian open easy chair in the style of Howard & Sons, with the proportions, construction and character associated with this maker.

The chair has an open-arm design, with exposed, finely turned wooden arm supports and substantial square-section timber blocks beneath. The exposed mahogany-coloured timber features several stepped and moulded sections.

The frame is in good condition and the castors are Cope & Collinson, a recognised maker of quality furniture fittings.

The upholstery is worn in places and the seat springs require repair. Hence an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a period furniture project to restore with a fabric of their choice.
