Smeg dishwasher - error 01 (Stretford M32)

Please read below before asking for this item.

It's been a great washer working fine until yesterday. I don't know if it's perhaps that I'd tried an obscure brand of tablet or what but now all I can get it to do without the error 01 message appearing is to do a 15 minute rinse.

I'm a retired engineer so I'm confident it's repairable by someone who's capable and half my age. I'm too old now to be fixing things like this. I have checked a number of obvious suspects to no avail. One thing I found out about online is it could be there's a float switch underneath the dishwasher proper. Designed to stop the dishwasher from working If there's a leak. I can't see a leak however. I found a YouTube video showing all this.

I'm on the first floor but it won't be difficult getting it down the stairs. I can help with that.
