Epson XP620 ink jet printer (Malvern Link WR14)

The printer suddenly stopped working and displayed the message "Ink Pad Full. Go To Service Centre". Two service centres told me it is not worth repairing but looking online it is possible to do a DIY repair and to download a code to reset the counter. Prior to the abrupt stop it was working perfectly. It has several pounds worth of third party ink cartridges included.
