Build your own retro radio kit. (Moorlands LA1)

I got this for my husband, and he pretty much completed it, but not quite. It comes with an instruction book, which includes lots of options for various electronics experiments, so could be (gently!) dismantled again and used for exploring the other options. You will need to purchase a square 9v battery (the type with buttons for snap-on connectors). This is not a child's toy, and the instructions are detailed and complex, so it's more appropriate for an adult or a capable and nimble fingered older teenager. Please note that the outer casing is printed cardboard, so if you do use it as a radio it needs to be sited somewhere dry! The speaker unit is different from the one originally provided in the kit but of appropriate spec.
