Free: Electronic water 'softener' (Cholsey/Wallingford OX10) Gifted The water is not softened in the chemical sense, but ionically conditioned so that it will not precipitate out. I've used these for years and they work well - although this is a make I've not tried. The gadget needs a 12V, 500mA mains adaptor and the four sockets are for 'aerial' cables that will have to be made up from 'banana' plugs and ordinary single-core insulated wire. You will guess that this device will suit an electrically competent handyman. Sorry; no instructions* or guarantee that it will work but you could save yourself £100 and further expense dealing with limescale in pipes and taps. *I can describe how to use it.

There is a preponderance of mags. covering the American scene, including Model Railroader, NMRA Bulletin and Roundhouse; some British. ALSO some books covering other nationalities. Pick and choose.
