Free: wood chippings/mulch (Cholsey/Wallingford OX10) I have spare four small-ish sacks of dry, chipped conifer and a water butt full of chipped, mixed apple and lilac prunings. Should make good weed suppressant/mulch. The water butt stays here, so you will need sacks or a builder's bag! I will ask you to phone to set up collection.

Free: Electronic water 'softener' (Cholsey/Wallingford OX10) Gifted The water is not softened in the chemical sense, but ionically conditioned so that it will not precipitate out. I've used these for years and they work well - although this is a make I've not tried. The gadget needs a 12V, 500mA mains adaptor and the four sockets are for 'aerial' cables that will have to be made up from 'banana' plugs and ordinary single-core insulated wire. You will guess that this device will suit an electrically competent handyman. Sorry; no instructions* or guarantee that it will work but you could save yourself £100 and further expense dealing with limescale in pipes and taps. *I can describe how to use it.

There is a preponderance of mags. covering the American scene, including Model Railroader, NMRA Bulletin and Roundhouse; some British. ALSO some books covering other nationalities. Pick and choose. It is my habit to ask you to phone me to arrange to collect and you can tell me what interests you most.
