Hesperantha coccinea, the river lily, or crimson flag lily, synonym Schizostylis coccinea, is a species of flowering plant in the iris family Iridaceae, native to Southern Africa and Zimbabwe. It is a semievergreen perennial growing to 60 cm tall, with slender lanceolate leaves up to 40 cm long and 1 cm broad. It flowers in late summer, so at the moment, there are none, just clumps of green leaves with striped roots.

It is an outdoor plant which comes back every year. Large, arrow-shaped dark, glossy green leaves veined creamy-white appear in autumn and are still decorative now in April. White spathes with a yellow spadix are followed by spikes of orange-red berries in Autumn. And then the leaves come back again.
