The frame is a little squeaky and 1 of the plastic holders for the wooden slats is broken, I put this at the end of the bed and it was never a problem. Also, I have replaced the bolts at the head of the bed to make it stronger. The base is one piece. The mattress is hybrid has two dips where my partner and I slept bur it is clean, no nasty stains. Collection only from No Place, it will need two people and a van to collect, I cannot help you carry it out. I do have a cat but do not smoke
